Mochiko Ice Cream

Have you heard about Mochiko? Do you have any idea what it is? Allow me to introduce to you what it's about.

Mochi is a Japanese confection made of glutinous rice flour or mochiko. It is usually filled with a sweet center such as anko or red bean paste and eaten as a snack. But with Mochiko, they make modern versions of mochi with new fillings and flavors such as ice cream.

I found out about Mochiko from my close friend, Lea (@endlessblah of Tumblr). She kept talking about it a long time ago. I didn't pay much attention because I thought it was just another Korean ice cream, they once bought near our school. And before anything else, let me clear that I have nothing againt Koreans or Korea. It's just that, I was not interested with the ice cream they once ate.
Anyway... So today, before buying my beautiful planner, she asked me and Jil (@kekekikiamboy of Tumblr), to go with her to this mini ice cream cafe. This was in Alabang Town Center, by the way.

The location of the store, for me, is quite hard to find (especially for first timers in ATC). I mean, if they have located their shop in a more accessible place (preferably inside the mall), Mochiko would be well-known.

The store is simple but very cute! It doesn't have much displays which makes the shop relaxing. They even have this very cute section wherein people, who have experienced their product, has a picture (in polaroid!!!) while holding or biting the Mochiko and is displayed behind the counter of the shop. It's pretty cute!

Since Mochiko is frozen, Lea had to thaw it for how many minutes. Behind the packaging, there is a quote saying, "Good things comes to those who wait." Haha! Isn't it a cute thing to read while excitedly waiting for the Mochiko to defrost?

Jil and I wasn't able to buy. We wanted Lea to experience it first. She ate it after her dinner and according to her, "Ang saraaap!" It did taste good so we will definitely come back there and this time, I won't forget to bring my camera to capture our experience!

There are different flavors available. They are the following:
  • Green Tea
  • Azuki (Read Bean)
  • Black Sesame
  • Caramel
  • Coffee
  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Strawberry
  • Mango
  • Avocado
  • Cookie Dough

Lea order a cookie dough which only costs Php70. As I've said earlier, she really loved it. I personally wanna try the Chocolate and Coffee. I tried searching for reviews about it and I've seen good feed backs regarding the Cookie Dough flavor so yeah, I'm quite convinced to trying it too.

They have this gift card. It's such a cute gift to give and to receive. Instead of buying a typical accessory or a new style of shirt/blouse, why not try giving this to your friend and let her experience the deliciousness of this dessert, too? ;)
